China's T&A Exports Decline In Feb 2016

According to China Customs data, China's textile and apparel exports have declined by 27.7% year on year to US$ 15.66 billion in February this year due to rising cost, weak demand and the lunar new year holidays.

Textile exports were down by 27.5% year on year to US$ 6.08 billion while apparel exports were down by 27.8% to US$ 9.58 billion year on year in February 2016.

In Jan-Feb, 2016, China's T&A exports were to the tune of US$ 39.79 billion, down by 15.7% year on year. During the period, textile exports were down by 14.2% year on year to US$ 15.53 billion and apparel exports down by 16.6% year on year basis to US$ 24.25 billion.

The main reasons for the decline in exports were attributed of lunar new year holidays and the rising cost amid weak demand in the global markets. Also, South Asian and ASEAN countries with cheap labour and cost advantages, have squeezed China's textile and clothing market share overseas.
