Established in Biella, Italy in the early part of the twentieth century, Bonino Carding Machines has successfully consolidated its leadership credentials in the fiber preparation and carding sectors over the years. Head of Sales Bonino, Chiara Bonino who was present at the India ITME 2016 mega event, expressed a keen desire to expand Bonino's presence in the Indian and Asian markets. In a one-to-one interview with Textile Excellence, Chiara spoke about the achievements and several highs the company has attained both globally and in the Asian markets. Excerpts from the interview are reproduced below.

What makes the Asian and global markets so promising from your point of view?

We have successfully capitalised on the experience accumulated in the course of time to research on new ideas and to provide new answers which are presented with enthusiasm to the test of markets' demands. We have created a brand value for ourselves that makes us feel at ease be it the Indian markets or say in the global scenario. Years of dedicated research has brought us to the brink of a new era where we are in a position to enhance our clients' business prospects with innovative solutions.

Tell us about your recent expansion that has enhanced your global presence.

Recently Bonino has expanded its own technological competence with the purchase of the Belgian company HDB. It has helped us to present a complete production range with the addition of the web cross lapper. Thanks to a plant which occupies an area of about 13,000 square metres, the company is able to carry out all the phases of its production cycle, from design to production, inside the factory. Our company has its philosophy that we should manage the development and the production of all the component parts, assembling them and carrying out all the mechanical and electrical tests, in house.

This helps us exercise a better control over quality and delivery times. At the same time, this ensures that a wide range of spare parts for our machines are available at any time.

Can you throw light on your company's capabilities as a leading brand in the textile machinery industry?

Today Bonino Carding Machines is one of the few companies in the world that is capable of setting up a complete system from the cut of wastes to the carding for those sectors which are using recycled materials. In addition, it has specialisation in the production of machines for the sanitary sector both for absorbent cotton, wool and artificial fibers.

It offers various models of nonwoven card machines which are able to answer to the different needs of a considerable number of producers, and can also be adapted to the requirements of a large variety of products.

The company has already been present for many years in the air lay development, consolidating its presence with the turbo card, and nowadays promoting the new air card. With such innovations in place, our product offers flexibility to adapt to the machine requirements of clients.

Can you elaborate on the products that Bonino is offering today?

We are offering woollen spinning machines to prepare fibre and carding sets for cashmere and carpets. The other category is open end spinning machines that help in the production of regenerated fibers, the full line to the drawing frame, together with 40 years of consolidated experience in customer support. We provide nonwoven sector machines to prepare fibre, nonwoven cards, cross lappers and drafters to serve the whole range of nonwoven products.

We are also into web development that is intended for insulation of car industry, wadding and felts. The company has developed systems of simple fibres compaction, systems with turbo card able to offer a large fibre opening or air card systems. Among other things, we are also present in the sanitary sector systems that manufacture bleached cotton, lines suitable for obtaining spunlace products and systems to produce ribbon for hygienic tampons.

How was the response in the India ITME 2016?

We have received a good response from clientele not only from India but also from other countries. It has been a very busy exhibition. It's quite an exciting experience we had at ITME 2016.
