Lingerie Shop, owned by Radhika Goenka of the Welspun Group, plans to enter the national capital New Delhi by setting up its innovative lingerie vending machine at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in February 2018.
“We are a brand that advocates for unconventionality and uniqueness, so the need to make a statement is essential. Our aim is to break the mould in the Indian lingerie market by offering premium bespoke products with a twist. We are planning to launch the next one at the Delhi international airport by February 2018,” Radhika said.
The Lingerie Shop entered the women’s innerwear segment in India with the launch of the country’s first lingerie vending machine at Peddar Road, Mumbai in May this year.
The machine will be stocked with pre-packaged lingerie products in multiple styles and sizes, offering the customers a range of premium quality innerwear from all black ‘Be Mine’ collection created and designed by Radhika.
She plans to take her brand across the country by setting up lingerie vending machines at select prime locations with the backing of the Welspun Group.
The Indian women’s lingerie market is currently estimated to be around Rs 16, 000 crore (approximately US$2.5 billion) according to a Technopak report and is expected to grow at a compounded aggregate growth rate (CAGR) of 14% to reach Rs 31,000 crore (approximately US$ 4.9 billion) by 2021.
The Lingerie Shop currently caters to its clientele in India through its e-commerce platform and is planning to set up physical stores besides the vending machines in the future.
