Philippe Lampe, owner of Lampe Textiles in Tielt, Belgium, was looking for a way to provide his son some privacy in his college room. Lampe's son wanted curtains for his window, but he wasn't allowed to attach anything to the walls. Lampe looked at different options. Finally, he landed on self-adhesive "curtains" which allow one to see out the window during the day while preventing people from being able to look in. Thus, Squid was born. The patented transparent textile feels very natural, yet adheres to windows and other glass surfaces. Unlike plastic window coverings, it's breathable as well as moisture- and heat-resistant. Squid keeps the heat out, making it an excellent solution for windows exposed to the sun's glare. It's temperature and pressure-sensitive as well as UV-resistant. Made of 100% polyester, the woven fabric is anti-bacterial and fire-retardant, and features solvent-free acrylic glue that is double layered, making it appropriate for humid conditions. It installs quickly and easily without professional equipment. Suitable for UV and eco-solvent printing, with a latex option on the way, Squid can be customised. It delivers a double-sided effect after printing, and when printed, the textile becomes an interior one-way vision alternative.
