Jakharia Fabrics Believes In Circular Fashion

Jakharia Fabrics is planning to increase its fabric processing capacity to 1 crore meters per month, by the end of 2021, from the current 80 lakh meters per month. The company, which is mainly into rotary printing, will set up digital printing facilities too later this year, informs Nitin Shah, Director, Jakharia Fabrics. What makes Jakharia Fabrics stand out from the competition? We focus on our niche and are the best in the game for those products. We produce 80 lakh meters of fabrics every month, at the highest quality and at a price that is globally unbeatable. We plan to increase production capacity to 1 crore meters by the end of 2021. Printed shirting fabrics is your core business. What technologies do you use? What benefits have you reaped from these technologies? We are a fully integrated processing house that can cater to all requirements of global clients for any size/quality expectations. Our core business is shirtings, with prints being primary. We use world leading Austrian rotary technology that can produce fabrics of unbeatable sharpness/finesse, with little or no variations across large print volumes. We will be offering digital printing later this year. Currently, we have the following machines:

• MHMS Austria rotary printing, that can print unto 1.8m width
• Laser engraving from SPG Austria. This helps us achieve the sharpness in printing
• Continuous dyeing, with no length limit

Do you cater to the domestic or export markets? Our fabrics are supplied to apparel exporters and used by brands including H&M, Abercombie and Fitch, American Eagle among others. We serve both domestic and export clients. We also do jobwork. Your portfolio consists of some high value fabrics. How do you perceive the Indian market for such fabrics? Though the Indian market remains focused on high volume, the market is fast evolving. Linen and high ply fabrics in finer counts are in demand. People want finishing like mercerizing, Airo, etc which was earlier primarily for exports. Tell us about any special products and innovations that you have introduced recently? We recently created stripes and checks that were made using printing technology that makes them indistinguishable from yarn dyed stripes and checks. The advantage of this is faster time-to-market, more colours and designs and better quantity flexibility. Environmental standards, sustainability and Jakharia Fabrics? At Jakharia, we believe in circular fashion for a better world. We surpass all requirements for GOTS and Oeko-Tex and are in the process of getting these certifications. We are a zero liquid discharge company. All waste water is recycled and reused. As a young texpreneur and technocrat, what is your view of the Indian textile processing and printing industry? Textile processing in India is seeing a spurt, both in quality and volume. Due to multiple factors, growth in this sector has not been at par with jump in spinning/ weaving/knitting. To meet demands from global clients like Walmart, H&M, Target, etc, we need a lot more processing capacity than what currently exists. Countries like South Korea, China, Taiwan, and many European countries have taken performance, functional fabrics to a very high level technologically. What is Jakharia's goal? Yes technical fabrics are seeing good growth globally and we at Jakharia have been keeping an eye on this trend. The fact is that the majority of global fabric requirements are still the core stuff. We have focused on providing these fabrics of the highest quality and best prices.
