Monforts Germany Set To Launch Econtrol® Process For Knit Fabrics

The Econtrol® process is a simple, quick and economical one-pass pad – dry – wash off continuous dyeing process with drying in a hot flue at 120-130° C and controlled humidity (25-30% by volume) to obtain fixation in 2-3 minutes. According to S. Rajendran, Sr. VP, A.T.E. Enterprises, “The first Econtrol® machines were supplied in India in 2000, for the woven industry. Monforts is now adapting this for knits too.” The knits segment in India is growing rapidly. “According to my business data, in the last two years, 60% of my business has been from the knit industry, from across the country. Almost 90% of the knit fabrics are dyed in rope form using softflow dyeing machines, exhaust dyeing method, and some have gone for cold pad batch dyeing.

Now, Monforts is working on introducing continuous dyeing process, called Econtrol®. This technology is well established in the woven industry, with more than 60 ranges running across India. A very successful process that does not require the use of salt, urea or silicate. The fabric is dyed using the dye and alkali in case of reactive colours. And the dyeing happens within 2-3 minutes. This is open width processing, and is a revolutionary technology,” said Rajendran. “Already adequate trials are being conducted at Monforts Germany and even I’ve sent some fabrics from India now, which are under trial. During ITMA 2023, we will have more details, more data, more samples for this technology for the knit industry.” A.T.E. booths were the crowd pullers at India ITME 2022.  “We’ve received lots of key customers, had serious discussions, and are also hopeful of concluding a number of deals by the end of the show,” he said.
