UNITEX Commissions Fully Digital Filament Yarn Plant In Vietnam Using Barmag atmos.io

UNITEX has commissioned a new filament yarn manufacturing facility in Trang Bang, Vietnam, marking a major step in capacity expansion and digital transformation. The new unit adds 36,000 tonnes per year to UNITEX production capacity and reinforces Vietnam’s growing role in global manmade fibre supply chains.

The newly inaugurated plant stands out for its end-to-end digitalisation powered by Barmag’s atmos.io platform. Every stage of production, from chip preparation and extrusion to spinning, texturing and storage, is digitally networked. Each yarn package is individually tracked and documented, creating complete production transparency and traceability.

Artificial intelligence plays a central role on the shop floor. The system detects deviations at an early stage and enables real time corrective action, improving operational stability and product consistency. A digitally integrated laboratory further strengthens process control, ensuring that quality interventions are validated instantly.

Jack Dang, Chief Executive Officer of UNITEX, stated that the atmos.io platform enables consistently high overall equipment effectiveness while supporting faster decision making and flexible responses to customer specific requirements. Barmag engineers have also integrated third party automation systems, enabling comprehensive tracking from polymer melt to finished package.

UNITEX operates as a subsidiary of Century Corporation and supplies specialty yarns and recycled draw textured yarn to global markets. The new investment aligns strongly with rising demand for sustainable and digitally controlled textile manufacturing across Asia. Barmag, part of the Swiss Oerlikon Group, continues to expand its footprint across Asia, supplying advanced spinning, texturing and digital solutions to fibre producers seeking higher efficiency, sustainability and process intelligence.
