Dhaka International Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition (popularly known as DTG), an annual 4 day event is counted among the most important international machinery exhibitions the South East Asia. This year’s DTG opened with equal lustre and glory on January 28 and continued through to January 31 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The event in its 13th edition this year saw exhibitor participation from 33 countries, notably Austria, China, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Taiwan, India, Srilanka, Pakistan etc. Over 1000 machinery manufacturers occupied the 18 halls at the BICC, Dhaka.
Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Taiwan's exhibition management firm Chan Chao International and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Company of Hong Kong have organised the 13th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition. Like the previous editions, this year too saw a vast showcase of state-of-the-art textile and garment technologies and machinery. Global brands like Barudan, Jakob Muller, Karl Mayer, Loepfe, Graf, Lonati, Saurer, Pai Lung, Picanol, Rieter, Santoni, LMW, Shima Seiki, Fong’s, Thies, Truetzschler and Zimmer added to the glamour of this highly acclaimed show in Bangladesh. The event is designed to be the trendsetter for the industry. DTG stood up to its reputation this year too creating the right platform for new technology, state-of-the-art equipments, materials and services, as well as becoming the right dais for international suppliers and visitors to expand business to the lucrative market.
“Last year, exhibitors had concluded business deals worth US$220 million at the fair.” BTMA President Tapan Chowdhury was not only happy to announce the figures of the last year but also expressed his positive expectations from this year’s DTG. BTMA is a leading industry association representing primary textile sector like spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing mills in the country. The association's contribution to the country's gross domestic product amounts to 13 percent. “The climate for capital investment in Bangladesh has been healthy and shown lucrative growth since the last five years. We are hopeful that this year’s DTG will definitely help further investment and adoption of modern technology to keep up the country’s growth story in global apparel trade,” added Tapan Chowdhury. During 2014-15, Bangladesh has imported textile machinery worth BDT 7119 crores (US$ 915 million). DTG definitely sets the stage for textile industry decision makers to understand, locate and find the best machinery and technology to meet their needs.
