Teijin to Boost Production of Technora Para-aramid Fiber

Teijin Limited has announced that it will expand Technorapara-aramid fiber production by 10% through increasing capacity in Teijin’s Matsuyama Factory. Construction would commence in June this year at cost of 1.5 billion Japanese Yen and begin its operation from October 2017.

Teijin and the group’s core aramid-fibers business Teijin Aramid B.V. will jointly expand the worldwide sales of Technorain response to increasing market demand worldwide.

High-performance composite materials offering new value are one of the four business pillars in the Transformation and Growth Strategies of Teijin’s current medium-term business plan. Promising fields for Teijin’s high-performance fibers include infrastructure and energy, safety, functional paper and filters, and mobility. By boosting Technoracapacity, the company is putting a higher priority on leveraging high-performance materials in advanced solutions to meet diverse demands in the global market.

Teijin is a world leader in para-aramid fibers. Renowned for their strength, tensile modulus and resistance to impact, Teijin’s Twaron, Technora para-aramid fibers are used worldwide for applications including reinforcement materials for automobile rubber parts and composites to civil engineering ropes and cables, and protective clothing. Technora is produced by Teijin Limited in Japan and Twaron is produced by Teijin Aramid in the Netherlands.

Displaying particular merit is Technora, which was independently developed by Teijin and has been commercially available since 1987. It features high tensile strength and resistance to impact, fatigue, chemicals, moisture and heat. It takes advantage of these superior properties in order to meet the specific requirements of a range of applications such as reinforcement materials for transmission belt, hose and ground. Technorahas been produced by full-capacity operation, with its global market steadily increasing since 2014.
