Global Technical Textiles Industry Gathers At TECHNOTEX 2016

The 5th edition of TECHNOTEX 2016 exhibition theme on “Technical Textiles: Towards Future” was held on April 21-23 at Bombay Exhibition Centre. The exhibition was organised by Ministry of Textiles and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra and Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Textiles (Independent Charge), inaugurated the exhibition and released a Knowledge Report and Technotex 2016 exhibition directory. Textile Commissioner Dr. Kavita Gupta and Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman, FICCI Technical Textile Task Force and MD, Ginni Filaments were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

 

Devendra Fadnavis said, “Maharashtra as a state had & will always actively participate in the initiatives taken up by the government for the further acceleration of the Technical Textiles in the country.” Sharing his vision on the future of technical textiles in India, Santosh Kumar Gangwar said, “In India, the technical textile sector is still at its nascent stage but it has been recognised as the fastest growing segment of the textile sector by the Government of India and industry stakeholders alike.” He further added, “In India the growth rate of Technical Textiles sector is expected to be much higher. Based on past trends of growth and estimated end user segment growth, the working group on Technical Textiles for 12th Five Year Plan has projected the market size to Rs. 1.58 lakh crores (US$ 28.82 billion) for the year 2016-17 with a growth rate of 20% during 12th plan”

 

The TECHNOTEX 2016 show attracted more than 150 exhibitors with a diverse collection of technical textiles from the various sub sectors of the industry from nations like Korea, Switzerland, Japan, U.S.A, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Russia, U.K, Spain and India. The event also witnessed the country pavilions of Taiwan and China. Gujarat and Karnataka participated as Partner States. From India, Technotex 2016 witnessed participation from states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and others. Technotex 2016 also attracted participation from stakeholders in technical textile sector as well as major institutional buyers from Army, Navy, Paramilitary forces, Railways, Border Roads Organizations, Hospitals, Construction companies etc.
