Strata Geosystems (India) Pvt Ltd's Chief Technology Officer Shahrokh Bagli has received the Indian Geotechnical Society's lifetime achievement award for his significant contribution to the geosynthetics industry, it has been officially announced.
Bagli happens to be well known in the field of geotechnical engineering, and has set standards for conferences like IGC-2000 which was organised in Mumbai.
He is known for his in-depth knowledge and views on several aspects of geotechnical engineering. In recent times, his focus has been on geo-synthetics as well as related areas.
During several technical meets, he has highlighted various aspects of geo-grids which are otherwise overlooked or taken for granted, including minor aspects such as the significance of secondary reinforcement, and issues such as behaviour of reinforced soil structures in seismic zones.
Bagli has always urged engineers to appreciate soil reinforcement and think out of the box.
He has been instrumental in influencing the need for rational national codes and specifications for geo-synthetics as well as making civil engineers aware about geo-synthetics, both at the formative levels in institutions as well at the professional level.
