Santex Rimar Group names Simone Rancan as SMIT’s CEO

The Italy-based Santex Rimar Group has named Simone Rancan as the new CEO of its group company SMIT, it has been officially announced.

Incidentally, SMIT happens to be a company which joined the Santex Rimar Group in April 2016, though it was originally established as early as 1938 and is recognised all over the world as a leader in weaving technology.

“Simone Rancan knows textile business and will move SMIT forward quickly to capitaliseon opportunities. He has a great ability to connect with employees, partners, customers and global leaders. Rancan’s vision, strategy and execution is exactly what SMIT needs,” Santex Rimar Group CEO Stefano Gallucci.

Simone Rancan, who began his career in a Santex Rimar Group company called Sperotto Rimar, has worked in the weaving machines segment and spent his last four years in the spinning machinery industry with Rieter.

“I am honouredby this unique opportunity provided by Santex Rimar Group to lead SMIT on its path forward. The company has well known technological strengths and unique knowledge of a wide range of textile processes. New production concepts have been implemented at record speed and spare parts deliveries began six months ago,” Simone Rancan said after taking over as SMIT’s CEO.

The company has also announced a structural architecture involving mechanics, electronics and communication systems to provide the most advantageous weaving machine configurations for production of high quality fabrics.

The system is versatile enough to be upgraded anytime, can incorporate custom made self-retaining grippers and is engineered for a wide range of weft material and counts, according to a company release.
