India Is One Of The Most Important Spinning Hubs Of The Future And Saurer Will Meet The Local Demand

Saurer has been one of the most reliable providers of textile equipment to the Indian textile sector. Ashok Juneja, Director – Sales & Service (India) of Saurer Textile Solutions Private Limited spoke to Textile Excellence about the company’s future plans. Here are the excerpts...

What kind of new innovations can the Indian textile industry expect from Saurer during forthcoming shows and exhibitions? Will these be manufactured at Saurer’s Indian facility?

The Saurer Group will present a full range of innovations along the whole textile value chain, but of course the focus will be on our products from the new ring spinning factory at Karjan. The Zinser Impact 72 made in India will be shown linked to Schlafhorst Autoconer 6 (made in Germany). Both products proudly carry the Saurer E³ certificate with clear advantages for the customer; maximum energy savings, highest output in kg/m² and optimised ergonomics. With a length of 2,016 spindles, the Zinser 72 has broken the 2,000 barrier and is setting new standards for economy in the commodity yarn sector. The machine is super-long, super-economical and extremely user friendly.

The Autoconer 6, with E³ label, has set new benchmarks regarding energy, economics and ergonomics, due to intelligent sensor technology and smart process control. Innovations such as Launch-Control, SmartCycle and SmartJet boost productivity by up to 6% compared with the previous model.

Saurer is the only solution supplier for full automation from roving frame over ring spinning machine to winder. This solution can be further optimised with Saurer’s own plant operating system. Allma Volkmann will exhibit the Volkmann FusionTwister, the two-for-one twisting machine for staple fibre yarns with the best price performance ratio. The FusionTwister is worldwide known for its high reliability as well as best twist quality and productivity due to spindle geometry for special applications, increased spindle synchronisation, optimum package build-up und high-class yarn guiding elements.

Reduction in energy consumption of up to 40% is ensured by the energy-optimised spindle and yarn balloon geometry.

Saurer Embroidery is the world market leader in embroidery production systems. Here a wealth of experience extending back over many generations is coupled with up-to-date knowledge for the textile future. At ITME in India, Saurer Embroidery will show latest innovation in flexible embroidery.

Saurer Components will showcase its innovative products for staple and filament yarn processing along with the weighting arm PK 2025+ which is made in India.

Saurer has been a prominent technology provider to the global textile industry and has strong presence in India as well. What is the market share that the company enjoys in India, China and other emerging markets? Which areas do you see growth and demand coming from in India?

Saurer has several market leading brands and has enjoyed growing market shares worldwide in the last years. We see India as one the most important ring spinning hubs of the future. The Indian spinning industry is highly efficient, runs one of the highest speeds in the world and enjoys domestic cotton.

Strengthening of the local downstream industry will further boost the local consumption of high quality yarn resulting in an increased demand from automated high quality mills. Saurer is prepared to meeth this demand with its new factory at Karjan.

Saurer has revived its training programmes for textile industry personnel in India. Could you tell us about how it helped your clients in India?

For Saurer, know-how transfer by training is the essential success factor. Motivated and optimally trained employees form the basis for the best possible operation of our customers' installation – and for maximum profit. At Saurer we are well aware of this and offer individual training sessions and seminars, which are provided worldwide, directly at machine location, or in our Technology Centres. Courses in effective small groups are conducted on a regular basis all over the world, for instance, at our service stations in India.

The German textile machinery manufacturer Saurer Schlafhorst took the industry by surprise at ITMA 2015 in Milan with a real service revolution. The market and technology leader has developed a new, innovative service concept for Autocoro 8 and 9: SUN-PLAN – service at a fixed price. SUN-PLAN is a service concept within SUN – SERVICE UNLIMITED. Customers of Saurer Schlafhorst can calculate the expenditure on servicing for their Autocoro 8 and 9 rotor spinning machines accurately in advance with a SUN-PLAN service agreement. Schlafhorst customers thus err on the safe side even when the warranty expires.

According to Thomas Arter, Head of Customer Support at Schlafhorst, SUN-PLAN is the service solution that our customers have always wanted -- calculable, reliable, individual and made-to-measure. Service at a fixed price is unique in the industry. We are setting a new standard with this. SUN-PLAN works like a productivity insurance policy. At the moment fixed-price servicing is available in two attractively priced packages: SUN-PLAN PROFIT and SUN-PLAN DRIVE. Other packages are under preparation. Textile machinery manufacturers from Germany plan to offer the innovative SUN-PLAN service packages for other textile machines also, such as the Autoconer 6 automatic package winder. Schlafhorst thus continues to consolidate its leading market position as a textile machinery manufacturer with the best, most innovative service worldwide.

Would you like to elaborate on few prestigious recent projects bagged by Saurer in India and reasons why customers have opted for Saurer’s products and solutions?

Morarjee Textiles Ltd has awarded Saurer a major order for ZinserImpact 72 compact spinning machines as linked installation with Autoconer 6 winding machines and together with ZinserSpeed 5A roving frames to Zinser and Schlafhorst. The first ZinserImpact 72 from the Zinser Vadodara plant in India was delivered to the Indian textile company Morarjee Textiles Ltd. This latest generation compact spinning machine was an impressive testament to the successful entry of Zinser onto the Indian market. Due to the fact that Morarjee Textiles operates in premium segments and are renowned among their customers for exquisite quality, Morarjee Textiles decided for Zinser because they are sure that Zinser is the best technology partner to establish a Zero waste ring spinning mill. The modern Zinser ring spinning machines were therefore the first choice for saving of energy, reduction of yarn waste and personnel as well as maintenance costs.

Saurer Schlafhorst has supplied Autoconer winders to Welspun India Ltd for the largest spinning unit under a single shed in India. Saurer has also supplied Schlafhorst Autoconer 6 winding machines to GRG Cotspin Pvt Ltd’s new ring spinning unit.

What is the share of export from Saurer’s Indian manufacturing facility?

We are committed to deliver machines wherever they are needed. The share of export and local sales will be determined by the market. However, we expect that around half of the production will be exported.

What are Saurer's immediate and medium term priorities for the Indian market?

Saurer sees India as one of the future growth markets. With our new factory at Karjan and excellent sales and service teams placed across all key regions in India, Saurer is well placed to service its customers in India. Saurer has a clear target for further growth in India in machinery, after sales and service as well as components business. In case of Saurer Components, this is valid for both staple and filament yarn processing industry.
