Textile processes often lead to oil mist, smog and heat polluting the air. Textile Excellence spoke to Betty Chen, Sales Director of Klean Environmental Technology Company Ltd as well as its Indian associate Yogesh Garg, CEO of Leather Links, about the company’s expertise in cleaning polluted air. Here are the excerpts… Could you brief our readers about your company? Klean Environmental Technology Company Ltd. is a leader in electrostatic precipitator technology which is meant for cleaning air by removing oil mist and smog. We have been providing highly-efficient smoke control solutions for textile dyeing, printing and finishing mills as well as other industries, like PVC synthetic leather, PVC gloves etc. and facilities with troubles managing oil mist emissions. Klean electrostatic precipitators (ESP) alone deliver over 98.2% efficiency in PM 2.5 removal at the rated airflow. In 24 working hours, a sufficiently configured Klean air cleaning system is able to collect 200kg spinning, knitting and finishing oil for an 8 chamber stenter working on 100% polyester all the time. Klean's R&D headquarters features 2,600 sqm floor area with a phenomenal showroom while our production base occupies 55 acres of land with state-of-the-art facilities. We have more than 300 employees, and among them, more than 60 are R&D staff. We run a UL WTDP certified Laboratory and own 9 invention patents, 56 Utility patents, 10 Design patents, 3 Software copyrights and a PCT. We are now enabling over 100,000 clients in 72 countries and areas to meet more and more stringent PM 2.5 emission standards. Rest assured your next project with Klean is in good hands. All Exhaust Air Filter ESPs are CE approved, UL tested, China CEP registered & Hong Kong FSD certified. Under the professional management and orderly operations, the current production capacity is 1000 units per month, meeting customers' requirements in timely and flexible manner. All Exhaust Air Filter ESPs are produced by modern laser cutting and CNC facilities guaranteeing accuracy and beautiful outlook. From raw material purchase to the final quality test, all the processes are strictly controlled providing satisfactory products to all our clients. How does Klean electrostatic precipitator technology work? Klean provides a range of products to clean up air emissions in various Industries. For the textile industry, the system is basically divided into two parts. One part helps the industry to recover lost heat energy during exhaust air cooling down process. Heat energy is recovered by heating water which is used in the processing industry. The second part is cleaning of air which is done by high voltage electrostatic precipitation where suspended particles like wax, oil and lint are electro-statically discharged after which they are collected. Clean and fresh air is sent out to the environment. For the stenter exhaust emissions, loose lint and larger particles are filtered out through washable pre-filters. Temperature of the hot exhaust air then is brought down to a certain level when preliminary condensation of fine particles happens. Exhaust air containing a mist of fine oil droplets enters Klean electrostatic precipitators where suspended particles are electro-statically charged, trapped by the collection electrodes, build up to form liquid and flow to the drains freely. Cleaned and fresh air is sent out to the environment. Before entering into exhaust air cleaning part, stenter exhaust air temperature is needed to be cooled down to 60? by heat exchanger (finned tube, air to water category) to ensure good purification effect and ESP stable working. Loose lint and larger particles will be filtered out by washable pre-filters then. Finally exhaust air containing a mist of fine oil droplets, enters the high voltage electrostatic precipitators (14-16kv) where up to 95% of the oil mist is collected. The system helps the textile industry reduce the cost of operations as well as keep the environment clean. How is Klean electrostatic precipitator technology better than other technologies? As particles become smaller, gravitational and centrifugal forces become less effective, while electrostatic force becomes more powerful, so electrostatic precipitation is always more effective when it comes to separating PM2.5 from the airstream. Traditionally used mechanical collectors such as a venturi scrubber exerts its force upon the entire airstream, however electrostatic precipitators apply energy only to the particles to be collected, which translates into significantly lower energy consumption for operating the ID fan. Compared with other supplier's electrostatic precipitator technology, Klean air cleaning system presents less interference with the stenter performance and ensures full dimension fire protection. Stenter exhaust is collected and taken out to the Klean electrostatic air cleaner installed away from the stenter, exerting minimum possible interference with the stenter efficiency. Using digitised smart circuitry to control the energy output of sparks, thermal sensors to monitor the entire cross sectional area of the airflow passage, and motorised fire suppression devices to cover the full length of the filter cells, Klean electrostatic air cleaning system is virtually fire-free. Besides, Klean's products delivered in modules and ready to use. This reduces the need for on-site welding and fabricating as well as the associated hazards and costs. Modules are easy to handle and can be cleaned completely, while auto-cleaning is also an option, this helps to keep Klean electrostatic air system running in a relatively clean status, hence a constantly high efficiency, for as long as possible. Klean also promises the effortless equipment management. With cloud service in place, working status monitoring, operational data analysis, optimal performance suggestions or on-the-spot services can be made possible, in real time. Built-in patented honeycomb structure filter cells controlled by consummate high-frequency high voltage power packs, KLEAN ESP ensures higher oil mist & particle purification effects with wider collection area, safe and stable working with multiple protection functions to prevent any fire risks. Its lower pressure drop results in a high efficiency in its total consumption of energy in the form of electricity. How will it help reduce pollution in the textile processing industry? It will be of tremendous help. First of all, we will be sure that the air which we exhaust will be around 98% purer. This would not pollute the environment. Industry will be benefitted since it will get a blue certificate, which will be mandatory in the days to come. Our machine is designed in such a way that it will help get this blue certificate very easily. Then, heat energy lost in the emissions can be recovered by pre-heating water for boilers and other processes, saving the cost of expensive fuels like coals and oils. The system helps the industry reduce air pollution emissions, heat loss, as well as cost of operations. In India, obsolete technology is being used. How will your technology help the Indian textile processing industry? We understand this and we see a good chance that our technology will be beneficial to Industry by increasing life of the old equipment being used in India by way of reducing heat energy losses, controlling emissions and making it compliant with today's pollution control laws. Our Technology is compatible with a 25-year-old stenter or a stenter bought five years ago or a stenter is being purchased now, our technology is useful in all the situations. Do you have any presence in the Indian market? We have delivered and installed our first machine in Faridabad. This unit is being used in the PVC Leather industry to recover DOP oil and provide clean air. We are being represented In India by M/s Leather Links, they have already taken various steps to ensure a widespread awareness on our products and its benefits to industry, we are getting excellent response from Indian customers and we are quite confident of setting up many more installations in days to come. Have you supplied this equipment to the Indian sub-continent market? We have supplied a big unit to a textile factory in Bangladesh called Microfibre. They have begun to use it. We have got very positive feedback and they seem to be happy with its performance. Which other countries have you supplied? We are supplying to more than 72 countries including Turkey, Iran, Vietnam. However, China is the biggest market in every sense. We urge our readers to kindly take time out to understand this technology more. We and our Gurgaon-based associate M/s Leather Links will be very happy to assist and respond to their queries.
