India: Commerce Minister Anand Sharma given responsibility of Textile Ministry

The Indian Government has re-shuffled its cabinet on July 12. Anand Sharma, current Minister for Commerce and Industry has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Textiles as out going textile minister Dayanidhi Maran resigned last week following allegations with regard to 2G spectrum allocations when he was the Telecom Minister of India. 

Anand Sharma has been an advocate of free trade and was against cotton export limits. He has been aggressively working towards enhancing India’s trade relationship with large trading partners as well as with emerging markets.
