Bonas India Well Set To Dominate The Indian Market

Bonas is synonymous with electronic jacquards. Anand Agate, General Manager Bonas India, who has nurtured the company here ever since its inception shares his ideas and views on the industry and his company's performance and presence.

What made Bonas  conceive the idea of setting up an office in India way back in the nineties when liberalisation was still in its nascent stages?

We wanted to give exhaustive service support to our Indian clients. Our concept caught on and we have proved to be very successful in the bargain. We ensure that we take care of each and every aspect of our client's concern area right from sales, to after sales service.

Tell us about how well the Indian market has responded to the move and how satisfactory a journey it has been for you so far?

Bonas India has succeeded in  selling over 3000 electronic jacquard machines over 200 locations in the subcontinent. For Bonas, the Indian market has proved to be such a runaway hit that India figures among one of the top five markets for Bonas products globally. Currently we own 50% of the market share in India. We have 100% market shares in carpet machines and 85% market share in velvet.

What potential do you see in the Indian market?

Barely 7% of the Indian weaving market uses jacquard machines. The market has the potential to absorb 200 machines a year. Needless to say our quality machines which are cost efficient speak for themselves and this has enabled us to capture the lion's share of the Indian market.

Can you elaborate on your global presence other than India?

We have a strong global presence other than India also. For example, carpet machines receive a very high number of orders from countries in the Middle East for obvious reasons.

However, if we would want to mention another country other than India where our jacquards are really the in-thing, I should mention Italy. We are really strong in the Italian market.

How has the response been during India ITME 2016 exhibition?

The response has been very good. We met our existing customers, and many new customers too. We hope to increase our business post-exhibition.
