Textile traders in Surat to help Uttarakhand victims

Surat trade and business organization have decided to lend a helping hand to the victims of cloudburst in Uttarakhand.

South Gujarat Chamber of commerce and Industries(SGCCI) with the assistance of Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTTA) and Textile Processors Association will send help of 50,000 saris to the victims of natural calamity in Uttarakhand.

“We had a call from textile secretary Sunaina Tomar asking Surat to contribute with 50,000 saris for the local population of the state. The locals have lost everything in the floods and they should be provided with at least basic amenities so they can start their lives anew,” said SGCCI president Kamlesh Yagnik.

According to FOSTTA president Sanjay Jagnanai, a board meeting is to be held today and a committee for collection of materials will be formed. He said: “The collection work will begin from Tuesday. There are more than 400 process houses and one lakh textile traders in the city. Thus, it will not be difficult to collect 50,000 saris for the locals of Uttarakhand.”
