Planet Textiles 2017: Reliance Industries And Ellen MacArthur Foundation To Be Delegates

Speakers from Reliance Industries (India) and United Kingdom based Ellen MacArthur Foundation will talk at Planet Textiles 2017 to be held in Bangalore on May 24, about how environmental issues have begun to gain traction among Indian consumers.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a UK-based global charity which will reveal details of a soon-to-be-launched project on the circular economy, linked directly to the global textile industry.

It has also been confirmed that textile chemical specialist Archroma’s Head of Sustainability James Carnahan will lead and moderate a special breakout session on environmental issues in the wet processing sector with reference to production and use of textile chemicals and dyes, with a focus on water use as well as conservation.

Reliance Polyester Sector CEO Gunjan Sharma will speak about how the company addresses environmental issues through the use of carbon and water footprints as well as supply chain traceability, even as consumers in India become more aware of environmental impacts of clothing.

He will also speak about how Reliance manufactures PET chips which are used to make bottles and recycles the same bottles into textile fibres, thus closing the textile loop.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Senior Project Manager Sven Herrmann will speak to delegates at this year’s Planet Textiles Summit.

The event is being organised in partnership with leading manmade cellulosic supplier Lenzing and is being sponsored by Oeko-Tex, Covestro, ZDHC Archroma, Bureau Veritas and Proviera, with support from Messe Frankfurt as well as The Dyestuff Manufacturers Association of India.
