India Invites Chinese Investors To Participate In 'Textile India 2017' At Gandhinagar

Union Ministry of Textiles Additional Secretary Pushpa Subrahmanyam called on Shaoxing Vice Mayor Xu Mingguang and invited him to lead a delegation of Chinese textile investors to participate in the ‘Textile India 2017’ event at Gandhinagar (Gujarat), according to a statement issued by the Consul General of the Indian Consulate in Shanghai, Prakash Gupta.

The Gandhinagar event which is scheduled to be held from June 30 to July 2, is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the statement. The invitation was extended after India organised a road show for the ‘Textile India 2017’ event at China's textile hub Shaoxing, detailing the investment opportunities in fabrics, machinery and yarn sectors available in India.

Additional Secretary Pushpa Subrahmanyam also made a detailed presentation on the overall scope, scale and participation guidelines for Chinese companies and also answered queries of Chinese companies on issues related to investments in the Indian textile industry.

Located in the Zhejiang province of China, Shaoxing was chosen as the location for the road show for the Gandhinagar event, since the Chinese city is one the largest textile manufacturing as well as trading hubs in eastern China, and several textile companies from the city have investments and business interests in India.
