The textile markets in Surat will come under electronic surveillance with the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras here.
Surat is a flourishing center for textile business and lakhs of people across the country come down to the textile hub of Gujarat for their business. The office-bearers of Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTTA) on Thursday donated a cheque worth Rs 51 lakh to the police, which was raised from different textile markets for the installation of the CCTV network.
Sanjay Jagnani, president of FOSTTA said, “There are many traders here and to make the hub the safest place for business, our office-bearers and other businessmen has lend a helping hand to make Surat a safe city.”
Not only the textile markets, but the entire city is under electronic surveillance. The Surat police have already completed the first phase of the Safe City Project where 104 CCTVs were installed at 26 strategic places including railway stations, airport and other busiest centers in the city.
“There are 142 markets and over 50,000 traders here. We have decided to donate more funds under the Safe City Project of the city police and Surat Traffic Education Trust in the coming days,” added the FOSTTA president."
