Integrated textile park to be set up in Surat

The country’s biggest man-made fabric hub – Surat- will see a textile park in the city being developed by Kejriwal Industries. Gujarat accounts for 12% share of total textile exports of the country and the state is one of the largest man-made fiber producers of India.

Kejriwal Industries has floated the tender to build the textile park at Surat. The company is developing a textile park to cater world class infrastructure to textile units. Some facilities in the park include common infrastructure, storm water drainage,  street lighting,  site development, water supply, signage and landscaping, common parking, power supply, warehouse and packing facility, crèche and tool room.

The textile industry in Surat is mainly engaged in the activities of yarn production, weaving, processing as well as embroidery.

Textile production in Surat has grown by 10% in the last five years, while the market for embroidery has grown from an almost negligible amount to around Rs 30,000 million over the same period.

Nearly 30 million meters of raw fabric and 25 million meters of processed fabric are produced in Surat daily. The proposed project of setting up the park would enable the textile entrepreneurs of Surat to meet the international standards and tap the growing opportunities in the sector.
