UK-Based Xaar Eyes Indian Digital Textile Printing Market With Its Latest Products

Xaar Plc, the UK-based leader in the development of inkjet technology and leading independent manufacturer of industrial inkjet print heads, has set its eyes on the Indian digital textile printing market, according to a top company official.

At a recent press conference in Gurgaon, Xaar CEO Doug Edwards stated that the company is serious about making a mark in the Indian digital textile printing market, with its wide portfolio of inkjet print heads and new technology for a variety of textile printing applications.

He said that Xaar is the only print head manufacturer to have a direct local presence, with a regional office in India for the last 13 years.

The company’s latest products namely Xaar 1201 and Xaar 5501, which can handle aqueous inks, are of particular interest to the Indian market, he stated, adding that this means original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) looking to produce textiles or graphics printers using water-based inks now have access to robust and reliable technologies.

The Xaar 1201 is a thin film piezo-silicon Micro Electrical Mechanical System (MEMS) technology print head to print wide-format graphics and textiles with dye sublimation, eco-solvent or aqueous inks, he stated.

To complement the Xaar 1201, the company recently announced the Xaar 5501, which is a compact and lightweight print head capable of delivering high print quality combined with low printing costs, even as integration costs are also kept to a minimum.

Edwards stated that Xaar’s regional base in India ensures that its customers and partners benefit from local technical expertise as well as a quick response, due to which he expects orders to pick up shortly.
