Grasim Industries Obtains Govt. Approval For Expanding VSF Unit At Bharuch Gujarat

The textile hub state of Gujarat will soon witness another multi-crore investment in manufacture of manmade VSF fiber plant exapnsion from the renowned Grasim Industries. The company has just recently received the go-ahead from the government for expanding the plant at Gujarat’s Bharuch region. The investment will be to the tune of INR 2500 disclosed a government document.

 

The grand expansion plans of Grasim is another feather on its cap with already four existing plants in India out of which two are located in Gujarat for Viscose Staple Fiber. The go-ahead comes as a great booster for the company’s expansion plans which was on the anvil for quite some time.

 

The two plants in Gujarat are located at Kharach and Vilayat townships of the Bharuch region. The current expansion plan for its plant is intended for the Vilayat venue. The proposal for the INR 2,500 crore plant came from the Grasim Cellulosic Division of the company.

 

It’s reliably learnt that the union Environment ministry has granted it approval and clearance for Grasim’s proposed expansion plant at its Vilayat unit. However, the ministry has also set forth some conditions to be fulfilled for the approval to become effective.
 

The expansion plan of Grasim Industries, it was learnt will be confined to the existing space it occupies in the Vilayat premise which turns out to be over 222.63 hectares. While the company’s desire to use the existing space for adding capacity has got the nod, it’s also estimated that the expansion will result in an addition 2,500 jobs. The cost estimates as per the document turned out to be INR 2,560 crore.

 

Grasim Industries which is a part of the Aditya Birla Group firms, announced in its expansion proposal that the project expansion at the Vilayat plant for VSF production will serve to bridge the demand gap for manmade fibers in the country.

 

VSF which ranges among the major staple fibers will be meted the ideal growth rate to cater to the premium apparel retail segment in a big way. This includes the crucial women’s and kid’s wear the proposal stated.
