Amazon Set To Hike Seller’s Fees For Clothing And Apparel From April 15

Recently, digital marketing agency CPC Strategy and Business Insider informed that on the cards is Amazon’s decision to raise fees for third-party sellers of apparel, accessories, handbags and sunglasses. At the same time, prices for jewelry items will be reduced. The agency cited its source as research from Instinet. The news could however, not be verified independently from Amazon spokesperson.

According to the agency’s report, clothing and accessories goods that are priced more than USD 75, will register a hike in fees for sellers from 15% to 17% with effect from April 15. The corresponding hike for handbags and sunglasses will be from 15% to 18%. The CPC strategy report however, maintained that for pricing below USD 75 the 15% rate will remain unaltered.

This in effect will mean that apparel sellers will receive the highest fees on the company’s market place in comparison to all other categories, stated the agency’s blog post. “The change in rates is seen as an indication that Amazon is confident about its own efforts in the apparel sector. Upward of 52% of apparel shoppers who purchased clothing online in the previous six months disclosed that they shopped at Amazon as cited by a survey of 1,500 US shoppers,” disclosed the CPC Strategy report.
