A one-day textile exhibition displaying oriental dresses, designs and home decorations was recently conducted at the Iqbal Auditorium by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) at its premises.
Participating and organizing in the expo were students and faculty of the Home Sciences and food and nutrition. Vice Chancellor of UAF Iqbal Zafar inaugurated the expo. He was flanked by faculty of Home, Nutrition and Food Sciences Dean Dr. Masood Sadiq Butt, Home Sciences In charge Dr. Ayesha Riaz, Dr. Anum Asghar, Dr. Najma, Dr Binish Sarwar and other dignitaries. The exhibition had on display over 20 stalls that attracted the textile lovers from all over the region.
On the projects of waving and screen printing alone more than 20 theme works were displayed. In the category of waving there were eight projects that included, sunset, golden ratio, khees, Bohemian, woods, feature in ocean nights, denim and computer chip. Presented under the category of screen printing were 10 projects that were set up at the gallery. The themes for screen printing included, Islamic architecture, Chinese pottery, graffiti, metallic, plant cell and others.
Vice Chancellor Zafar talked to participants and said, “Creativity, innovative ideas and hard work are essential to get success in life. The youngsters were full of talent and by sharpening their skills, the country can move to the new heights of the progress and prosperity. Strong academia-industry linkages were imperative to address the challenges of poverty, unemployment, and other issues.”
Dr Masood Sadiq said, “Textile industry gave high importance to innovation and creativity. Theme work provides an opportunity to think out of the box. There is also a need for strong industry-academia linkages for the betterment of the society.”
