VSF Prices Continue To Rise

Rayon grade dissolving pulp market saw no fresh offers and pulp suppliers mostly produced to meet previous orders, amid relatively bullish mindset. Offers for hardwood pulp were at US$915-930 per metric ton while softwood pulp were at US$970-1,020 per metric ton. Filament-grade dissolving pulp prices were stable with mainstream offers for softwood pulp from US and Europe generally at US$1,070-1,080 per metric ton.

VSF

Viscose staple fibre prices continued to rise in China on the fortnight gaining more than 3% as offers climbed for both medium and high-end goods. However, market confidence was dented by fall of cotton sentiment, so fresh viscose sales turned soft. However, low inventory underpinned the sentiment. In spot, 1.5D VSF offers gained at 14.69 Yuan per kg (US$2.30/kg) and 1.2D to 15.03 Yuan per kg (US$2.35/kg), both up US cents 7-9 in two weeks. In India, VSF prices did not move as downstream demand was still weak but modest to hold on the current price level. Offers for 1.5D VSF rolled over at INR144-151 per kg (US$2.13-2.24/kg).
