TEA Upbeat About State Govt’s Proposal To Hold Textile Fair

The recent announcement of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy of organizing an international textile fair in Tirupur this year has been welcomed by the city’s premium exporters’ body, namely the Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA).

 

The chief minister had made the announcement on the floor of the state assembly. The TEA hailed it as a move aimed at encouraging development of the textile industry in Tamil Nadu. According to TEA president Raja M Shanmugham, “The state government will extend financial support to the tune of INR 2 crore towards the event.”

 

He concluded, “Tamil Nadu being a major player in the entire value chains of the textile industry, the fair would largely help promotion of Industry, including exports. The industry in the State contributed about INR 45,000 crore annually towards exports and the industry would get all opportunity to showcase quality products and penetrate into new markets.”
