Tirupur Garmenters Eye Investing In African Nations

Three African countries, namely Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda have sent in their delegates to Tirupur to participate on a seminar conducted by knitwear industrialists. Meanwhile, four knitwear companies from the city have commenced operation of their factories in Ethiopia. The seminar discussed increasing investments in the textile and garmenting sectors in the African countries.

 

The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with Tirupur Exporters’ Association organized the seminar. The seminar was conducted under the aegis of 'Supporting Indian Trade and Investment for Africa' (SITA) Project. The project is implemented by the International Trade Center-Geneva (ITC). Owners of spinning mills affiliated to the Southern Indian Mills Association in Coimbatore also met the delegation later.
