Import Duty Hiked To 20% on 328 Textile Products

In a recent move the Centre doubled the import duty on 328 textile products to 20 percent. The move is intended to enhance domestic manufacturing in the textile sector and engender more employment opportunities.

Minister of state for finance Pon Radhakrishnan tabled the notification in the Lower House of Parliament. The notification sought to hike customs duty on 328 textile products from the current 10 percent to 20 percent.
