Istanbul Hosts Event To Focus On Curbing Fashion Pollution

Turkish Clothing Manufacturers’ Association (TGSD) had recently hosted a week-long fashion conference in the Turkish Capital of Istanbul. It was the 11^th version of the Istanbul Fashion Conference. The event has turned into an important global event that facilitates the branding and popularization of the Turkish ready-to-wear sector.

The event was centered around the theme responsible fashion. The theme being already of significant importance in the global agenda proved to be timely and well-chosen.

The theme of the conference assumes glob al importance as the concept of fast fashion that encourages the use of cheap clothing that gets used and disposed after a few wears has rendered fashion manufacture into a highly polluting industry. The pollution levels in the fashion industry are currently next only to the oil industry.
