Textile Ministry Upbeat About Schemes Floated For MSMEs

In a recently concluded exhibition that showcased the efforts of MSMEs in boosting the textile sector, 12 weavers and artisans across the country were felicitated. The exhibition was held at the national capital, New Delhi. Under the aegis of the Textile Ministry, the event also showcased the achievements of National Conclave on Creating Synergy for MSMEs in Textiles Sector. The highlights of the event included the signing of 15 MoUs aimed at boosting foreign trade of textiles and handicraft items. The promoters chose the opportunity to release a book titled Ease of doing business. The push intended for the textile sector is viewed as follow up action on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s project 100 day support and outreach programme for MSMEs. From a grand total of 100 districts, 39 were earmarked for the textile sector. The breakup was given as 12 for handloom sector, 19 for handicrafts and eight for powerlooms. Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani sounded a reassurance, stating the government has efficiently disseminated information about its schemes, including the outreach programme to all the beneficiaries. She also referred to the Rs 6500 crore Mudra loan that was sanctioned to the MSMEs in the textile sector. Sounding a positive note on the 100 day outreach programme, the textile minister disclosed that 2.6 lakh weavers and craftsmen were covered by the social security scheme under the aegis of the prime minister’s scheme.
