The birth of a new biodegradable polyamide combining Tencel’s lyocell fibres and Amni Soul Eco will be launched soon with the Austrian fiber firm Lenzing partnering Belgian chemical group Solvay for the purpose. A joint statement was issued by both the companies together disclosing that the new fabric that will take up market space is designed to further optimize the benefits the two fibers individually contribute. The features that are beneficial include breathability, thermal regulation, resistance and anti-bacterial properties. Andreas Guerler, head of global business management Activewear, Lenzing said, “The combination of Tencel Active fibers, which is derived from renewable wood sources using sustainable production processes, and Solvay’s Amni Soul Eco polyamide fibers enhances biodegradability results in to a more sustainable, comfort, easy care fabric that advances the concept of circular economy.”. Gueler further elaborated in a media statement, “Future collaborations with Solvay will focus on Tencel Lyocell with Refibra technology, our newest fiber innovation made from upcycled cotton straps and wood pulp, and Amni Soul Eco polyamide.”
