India: Apparel exports grow 14.95pc in September

“Apparel exports for the month of September 2013 grew by 14.95 percent to US$ 1.11 billion in September 2013.  This is the sixth consecutive month where garment exports grew at an average of 13%,” said Chairman AEPC, A Sakthivel. Export growth has also led to employment growth by 6.5% for the month of April- June 2013.

 

“We organized some trade fairs last month, we went to BSM New York and Spain and we got  positive signals of the revival of the economy in USA and EU,” informed Sakthivel. Commerce Secretary S R Rao released data for the month of September 2013. Exports during September, 2013 were valued at US$ 27679.33 million, which was 11.15 percent higher in dollar terms than the level of US$ 24902.00 million during September, 2012.

 

Imports during September, 2013 were valued at US$ 34439.50 million representing a negative growth of 18.10 percent in dollar terms over the level of imports valued at US$ 42051.45 million in September, 2012.
