India: Groz-Beckert To Showcase New Products During ITMA Asia And ITMA Europe

Groz-Beckert is the world's leading provider of industrial needles, precision components and fine tools as well as systems and services for the production and joining of textile surfaces. The products and services support the fields of knitting, weaving, felting, tufting and sewing around the world. How has your business shaped up after the last edition of India ITME?

After India ITME, the business has been same as before, we have not found any difference. Our business is more stable, long-term relationships, customer relationships is what we look at in shows such as India ITME.

How has been the market for you so far?

Market has been okay, we will achieve our targets. It was a normal year for us, not good nor bad.

How do you perceive the Indian market?

I have been visiting India regularly for the past 10 years. Everyone says the market has a bright future, growth will be significant. Unfortunately, that is not happening. There is not much growth witnessed in the knitting segment. In 2013, a major part of the year has gone as people were waiting for the announcement of TUFS and implementation of the scheme. So, during the past six months, majority of projects were delayed, business moved very slowly.

Even the participants who attended the textile shows this year commented that the funding applications they made earlier are being sent for revaluation under the new restructured TUFS. The delay in implementing the new TUFS norms, and releasing of funds has hurt business.

How has the Indian market accepted Groz-Beckert products?

Quality-wise everybody is happy, they tell us that the best products in the segment are available from Groz-Beckert; we are world leaders in our segment. We are certainly the most expensive ones too in the market, but that has not stopped discerning customers from investing in our products.

Our core business is knitting machinery parts. We also offer weaving accessories and weaving preparation machinery, sewing machine needles and also for nonwovens such as felting and tufting. We have new products in the pipeline, which we will showcase during ITMA Asia next year in Shanghai and ITMA Europe in Italy the year after.
