Jabalpur, in Madhya Pradesh, has set up an RMG and hosiery manufacturing cluster, as part of the central government's ODOP scheme. The cluster, spread over 8 acres, is coming up with an investment of Rs 60.75 crore, funded by the government. With this cluster, the RMG manufacturing business scattered across the town will now come under one roof. According to government officials, the cluster will create direct and indirect employment for around 35000 people. The cluster is expected to be fully operational by March 31. Around 200 units will be set up in this cluster, of which 80 units have already begun operations. The units are manufacturing shirts, trousers, kurta pyjamas, salwar kurtas, kurtis, wedding suits, school uniforms, leggings, jeans and denim wear. According to RMG industry sources, the products from the cluster are finding a good domestic market, and entrepreneurs are also learning how to move into the export market.
