Bihar Formulating New Textile Policy

A new textile policy to build a textile industry hub in Bihar is expected soon. Bihar government industry minister Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Bihar has become a hub for ethanol. Now we are formulating a textile policy so that Bihar will soon become a textile hub too." Shahnawaz Hussain informed that in the last three months, Bihar has received an investment of Rs 30,000 crore in ethanol alone. "And now big investors such as Jindal Group, Essar Group, Micromax, are evincing interest in investing in Bihar." He further stated that the Bihar government has worked towards building infrastructure and industry-friendly policies, which is now showing results. “Bihar today boasts of skilled, cost-competitive, labour. As many as 70% workers employed in various garment clusters across the country are from Bihar. If we want to march ahead of Bangladesh and Vietnam in garmenting, the industry must repose faith in Bihar,” he said.
