India: Swedish JV in hygiene products

Jajoo Surgical, Indore, India and the Swedish based Investkonsult have entered into a joint venture for manufacturing underpads and maternity pads for the hospital and institution market segment in India. The market has welcomed this manufacturing venture, which is very much needed in the industry.

Jajoo Hygiene is the JV company. Both the JV partners are small family owned businesses. Jajoo Surgical is one of the leading suppliers in India for bleached cotton.

Commercial production has begun. “Indian market for hygiene products is amongst the world’s biggest and we are optimistic about the success of this venture, says Rakesh Jajoo, director, Jajoo Surgicals.

According to Johan Berlin, Investkonsult, “This JV shows that small companies too can enter emerging markets, rather than what normally is seen on the world´s playground that only the big players get access to these markets.”
