Indonesia Slaps Safeguard Duty On Apparel Imports

Indonesia has imposed duties on imported apparel and accessories, contained in Finance Ministerial Regulation No, 142/PMK.010/2021, coming into force on 12 November 2021 and running for three years. Duties will range from IDR19,260 (US$1.34) to IDR63,000 per item for the first year, and will decline in years two and three. Additional duties will be placed on 134 categories, including formal wear, casual wear, dresses, infant clothes and accessories, outerwear, ensembles, gowns, suits, neckwear and headwear. Other items affected are coats, skirts, jerseys, cardigans, pullovers, shawls, mufflers, scarves and other items both knitted and crocheted. All countries will be covered by the new measures, except eight neckwear and headwear products from 122 countries.
