India gets a new Textile Minister as Santosh Kumar Gangwar

Santosh Kumar Gangwar, MP from Bareilly is the new union Textile Minister. He took his is oath along with 46 ministers yesterday as part of the powerful team of ministers headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gangwar is now Minister of State with independent charge for Ministry of Textiles and also minister of state for Parliamentary affairs, water resources, River Development and Ganga rejuvenation. The 66 years old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran is representing Bareilly parliamentary constituency since (except 2009-14) and was former minister of state in Government of India. He won the recently concluded 16th Lok Sabha election by a margin of over 2.4 lakh votes.

 

As Textile Minister, he will have the challenges to boost investment, generate employment and implement Government’s various schemes. Also, he will have to uplift the image of Indian textiles and exports as well as frame policies that bring in conducive environment.
