Birla Century To Discontinue All Textile Ops Except Some Yarn Manufacturing For Birla Advanced Knits
Aditya Birla had recently announced restructuring of its Textile Business operations at Birla Century, Bharuch plant. As part of this restructuring, the spinning and weaving departments at the plant have been discontinued. To make the best use of its process house, the company decided to increase the outsourcing of specialized greige fabric from 45,000 meters per day to 1,05,000 meters per day. Additionally, a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) has been
implemented for the workers in these departments, and the majority of them have opted for this scheme.
The company’s Board of Directors recently reviewed the operations of the Textile Division. After careful consideration, it has been approved to discontinue operations at the Birla Century, Bharuch plant, except for some
minor manufacturing operations and other allied activities related to supplying yarn to Birla Advanced Knits Private Limited, a Joint Venture with Grasim Industries Limited.
“This decision has been made to ensure the efficient functioning of our company and to focus on our core operations,” the company said in a stock filing.
