Lenzing AG, a global leader
in regenerated cellulosic fibres, has collaborated with Marchi & Fildi
Group and three Italian manufacturers to address the persistent challenge of
inconsistent quality in recycled natural fibres. The partnership has resulted
in a new series of high-performance fabrics blending mechanically recycled
cotton, silk, and wool with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres.
Fiber Engineering Enables Premium
Circularity
Through precision
engineering using low-fibrillation and non-fibrillating variants such as
TENCEL™ Lyocell - LF, LFH, and A100, the new blends deliver softness, process
stability, and enhanced dye uptake. Micro technology has been deployed to
achieve fine fibre structure and a superior hand feel. The newly developed
fabrics maintain commercial viability while achieving recycled content levels
up to 50%, enabling scalability across fashion and home textile segments.
Presented during Milano
Unica 2025, the innovations included core-wrapped yarns and high-end knits
blending TENCEL™ Lyocell with recycled silk and wool, as well as fabrics
featuring Cradle to Cradle certified ROICA™ V550 elastane. Manufacturing
partners Destro Fabrics, Maglificio Maggia, and knitwear brand Madiva
contributed expertise in yarn spinning, weaving, and finishing.
Circularity Without Compromise
The initiative proves that
circularity and quality can coexist. TENCEL™ Lyocell, sourced from sustainable
wood pulp, brings environmental performance and technical value, making it
ideal for brands seeking eco-innovation. Compact knits weighing 120 g/m² using
blends of 70-30 and 50-50 TENCEL™ Lyocell and recycled cotton demonstrated
commercial-grade results. This collaboration underscores Lenzing’s commitment
to building a sustainable textile value chain. The company’s fibre solutions
are now central to a new generation of circular materials meeting both consumer
expectations and brand sustainability goals.
