YKK Corporation is strengthening its presence in India
with plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, underscoring
the country's growing importance as a global textile and apparel hub.
The Japanese fastening giant has announced that its
Indian subsidiary, YKK India Private Limited, will establish its third
manufacturing plant at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai. The new facility will
complement YKK's two existing factories in Haryana and help serve both rising
domestic demand and export-oriented apparel manufacturers.
Backed by an investment of US$ 150 million, the project
will integrate YKK's advanced manufacturing technologies and expand the
company's production capabilities in the region.
The factory will be built on a land parcel of nearly
150,000 square metres, with a planned building area of approximately 74,700
square metres. Construction is expected to be completed by February 2028.
Beyond increasing capacity, YKK said the new facility
will focus on locally rooted operations by creating employment opportunities
and contributing to the surrounding community. The expanded production base is
also expected to enhance the company's ability to deliver products tailored to
a wide range of customer requirements.
Established in 1995, YKK India manufactures and sells
fastening products and operates offices across major textile and apparel
centres in the country. The company also maintains overseas offices in Nepal,
Jordan and the UAE, supporting its wider regional operations.
