NITRA Showcases New Age Fibre Innovations At 52nd Foundation Day Celebration

Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh and Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita attended the 52nd Foundation Day celebrations of the Northern India Textile Research Association in Ghaziabad, reaffirming the Government's commitment to innovation driven textile growth. The Ministers reviewed a range of advanced products developed from New Age Fibres, highlighting India's rapid progress in sustainable and high performance textile technologies.

NITRA has remained a cornerstone of India's textile ecosystem since 1974, supporting the industry through research, product development, testing, certification, skill development, and technology transfer. The institute continues to strengthen the adoption of technical textiles and environmentally responsible manufacturing solutions. India's textile and apparel sector contributes nearly 2.3% to GDP, 13% to industrial production, and around 12% to exports, while the technical textiles market is projected to surpass US$ 40 billion by 2030. The event underscored NITRA's enduring role in building a globally competitive, innovation driven, and future ready textile industry aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
