Specialty chemicals
manufacturer, Shivtek Spechemi Industries is putting ₹150 crore behind a new
greenfield chemical complex at Pungam, Ankleshwar, Gujarat, combining specialty
chemical capacity with an ambitious clean-fuel experiment for shipping.
Spread across about 21
acres, the project will be developed in two phases and eventually add 1,44,000
MTPA of capacity. The first phase, targeted for commissioning by March 2027,
will contribute 84,000 MTPA, serving pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, personal
care, textiles, industrial coatings and water treatment sectors.
The second phase will add
another 60,000 MTPA, but its real headline is the planned pilot work on
methanol-to-gas and hydrogen fuel technologies for the shipping industry.
That gives the project a
second dimension. Shivtek is not just adding chemical capacity; it is testing
technologies linked to one of the toughest decarbonisation challenges, cleaner
marine fuels.
