Colombia has banned imports of goods made wholly or partly
with forced labour, bringing stricter scrutiny to global supply chains.
The country’s customs authority will enforce the ban, with
goods subject to seizure and forfeiture and importers facing possible fines.
Authorities can use evidence from investigations, public reports, supply chain
audits, traceability records and other reliable sources to identify violations.
Colombia will also maintain a public registry of forced labour
risks linked to products, sectors, companies and supply chains, updated at
least quarterly.
Textile exporters should take note: robust supplier due
diligence, traceability and verifiable labour practices are increasingly
critical to maintaining market access.
