India: EPCH elects new Chairman

Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) has unanimously elected Dinesh Kumar as its new chairman, in the 144th meeting of Committee of Administration (COA), held in New Delhi recently.

 

Dinesh Kumar, representing Orient Art & Crafts, New Delhi, is a leading exporter of handicrafts from India.  He has been associated with the handicrafts sector for more than four decades. Kumar runs retail business of handicrafts products and has manufacturing units as well. He has served in various capacities as member of the Committee of Administration, President - Trade Fairs, and Vice-Chairman - EPCH.  He Kumar is also one of the Directors of India Exposition Mart Ltd., Greater Noida.

 

Kumar expressed his gratitude to members of Committee of Administration of EPCH for electing him as Chairman of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, an apex organization for promotion of exports of handicrafts from the country. 

 

He said that international marketing initiatives, cluster development projects, design, product development and new policy initiatives have to be pursued more vigorously in order to sustain the growth in handicrafts exports.

 

Exports of handicrafts have shown an increase to Rs 27,746.84 crore in the year 2014-15 from Rs 23,504.42 crore in the year 2013-14, an increase of 18.05%. Handicrafts exports have surpassed the target of US$ 4468 million to touch US$4537.98 million during the year 2014-15 - a growth of 16.81%.
