India Is Definitely Rieter's Focus Market

How is the Indian market for Rieter? What trends do you see in the coming times in this market?

Over the past few years, Indian textile industry has been growing at a steady pace. Both domestic consumption and exports have grown even though not to the projected level. While India has a strong spinning industry, more focus is now given in downstream processes. A strong textile value chain can boost the growth pace to much higher level in times to come.

A strong base of cotton, efficient mill management, labour economy and government support makes the spinning industry highly prospective in India. Strengthening of downstream processing should create more demand for good yarns and spinning industry stands to gain and witness investments.

Which of your four spinning systems are most popular in India?

Rieter is the only system supplier with complete offering from fibre to yarn for all four end spinning technologies: Ring, Compact, Rotor and Air-jet spinning machines. This allows customers to select the right system for their needs with neutral consultancy.

What is the company's strategy to move ahead in the market ?

Rieter is present in India with its manufacturing activities and a strong sales and after sales service network. The Rieter Test & Training Centre has been developed in exclusive cooperation with DKTE and highlights the latest Rieter J 20 Air-jet spinning machine. The Centre serves as a platform for research and for the training of specialists for the Indian spinning mills as well as imparting technical competence to the students in the course of their academic education. Both Rieter and DKTE value this cooperation and will combine their strengths to advance the development of these technologies in India. DKTE, an educational institute has excellent infrastructural facilities and a highly qualified staff that serves the industry and society through excellent education and high quality research.

How do you find copyright and patent laws in India (with reference to Rieter's latest win in China)?

Innovation is bred out of knowledge and investment, and both are needed to continuously inspire and drive further progress within an industry. Key to this process is the protection of intellectual property rights.

Rieter is also constantly working to enhance the competitiveness of our customers through innovation, while also respecting the innovation and intellectual property of others. For example, Rieter detected patent infringements of its Com4 compact spinning technology in China in 2012. The Chinese Ring Spinning Machine Manufacturer, Tonghe, installed components copied from CixiJingwei, for which Rieter holds a patent. To protect its intellectual property, and safeguard the competitiveness of its customers, Rieter successful sued to prevent future sales of the infringing components
