Pakistan Eyes To Tap Japanese Apparel Market

Pakistan is exploring ways to improve its textile exports to Japan, since the country offers them better grounds to excel in the longer run. Addressing an event 'Pakistan Japan Textile Day', organised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Senior Industry Expert from Japan Textile Importers Association (JTIA), Yasuhiro Shoda elaborated on the market opportunities and provided guidance to grab them. He mentioned that Pakistan needed to work on the process design and curtail its costs too. While highlighting the principles of market economy, he urged for more production management techniques and problem solving methods for quality improvement. QTEC General Manager Hisao Nishiyama announced that Japan has a US$100-billion apparel market and the Japanese consumers are quality conscious and like maintaining quality standards. TDAP Director General Shahzad Hussain Rana also stressed that Pakistan had a dynamic, vigorous and export-oriented textile industry that has an overwhelming impact on the economy.  Lastly, he hoped the event would raise awareness among Pakistani companies regarding the trends and requirements of the Japanese importers and pave the way for increased exports.
