Sri Lanka: Hirdaramani Group Opens in new factory in the North

Hirdaramani opens a new factory in Puthukkudiyiruppu, which is located the north of Sri Lanka with an investment of Rs 450 million. The new factory which employs over 1000 employees was opened by President Maithripala Sirisena this January. With the first factory in Vavuniya, around 1,050 workers were employed, the company realised the shortage of employment opportunities for the youth in the north. With the mission to develop the northern sector, the company has made the investment. While this effort would create direct employment, it would also create indirect job opportunities for the community in Mullaitivu, such as occupation in terms of shops and transport.
