Tamil Nadu Industrialists Show Interest in Proposed Textile Park

The proposed textile park at Padalur on the Tiruchi – Chennai National Highway has received good response from Tamil Nadu’s industrialists. With as many as 31 industrialists from the different parts of the state expressing their interest to set up units. The proposal which hit many restrictions with reference to identification of site was finally fixed at the junction of the Padalur and Irur panchayat on 40.35 hectares - 36.79 hectares of government poramboke land in the Padalur village and 3.56 hectares government poramboke land in Irur village.

 

The park is being promoted by State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) and the State government had permitted the permission to the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles for the formation of the textile park. The park will mainly cater to the needs of export-oriented ready-made garment units, production of yarn and so on.
